The Public Records Act (PRA), chapter 42.56 RCW, requires that all public records as defined in the PRA are subject to public disclosure unless an exemption from disclosure in the PRA or in some other statute applies.
The Lopez Island Hospital District is committed to upholding the basic principles behind the state’s Public Records Act, which are:
- The records belong to the people.
- Local governments are merely the stewards of those records.
- Records should be provided to requestors if statutory exemptions or prohibitions do not clearly apply.
The District has appointed the Superintendent, Renee Koplan, as Public Records Officer (PRO). As PRO, Renee is responsible for responding to a member of the public’s request for disclosure of public records and for overseeing the District’s compliance with the public records disclosure requirements.
The Lopez Island Hospital District’s policy related to Public Records and the Public Records Request Form is included below. Any other questions can be directed to the Superintendent either in person, by email, or by phone. Please refer to our Contact page for details.
