Request for Action on Unfair Health Insurance Limitations in San Juan County

LIHD would like to share with you two letters that were sent to the Office of the Insurance Commissioner, local and state legislators, and the University of Washington regarding the restricted access to health insurance for the self-insured in San Juan County.

Recent changes in the Washington Health Marketplace have limited affordable individual coverage options for the self-insured to a single carrier (Ambetter) offering only Silver and Gold plans in San Juan County. Ours is the only county in the state with just one available option and this option does not include coverage for UW Medicine and many other regional providers.
