Message from UW

We understand our community’s concerns in regards to Dr. Wilson’s departure, and know that we are all anxious regarding the next steps. Here is the most recent update from UW Medicine:

Due to the unexpected withdrawal of our contracted physician, we are enhancing our efforts to recruit a permanent provider to join UW Medicine Primary Care at Lopez Island. Although our capacity has been reduced by half due to Dr. Wilson’s recent departure, Wen Murphy, ARNP, remains available to provide in-person care. We will do our best to increase the number of available appointments, especially during the busy summer months, by focusing in-person care on urgent and same-day care needs. We will also be offering telehealth visits with providers at our mainland clinics to expand our ability to take care of the community (https://www.uwmedicine.org/virtual-care).

In addition, our nurses will continue to provide triage and other services on-site, through MyChart messaging, and by telephone to ensure patients receive the most appropriate care. However, we may sometimes experience limited clinic hours and ask you to delay preventive wellness and routine visits temporarily. We are making every effort to serve the Lopez Island community and appreciate your support and patience.

Lopez Island Hospital District will provide updates on any new developments, and we encourage community participation in our monthly board meetings (view calendar here).
