Lopez Island RN Team Wins a UW Medicine Cares Award
The UW Medicine Primary Care at Lopez Island Registered Nurse (RN) Team was recently nominated for and won a UW Medicine Cares Award! This well-deserved award recognizes their work caring for Lopez residents during the busy summer season. Whether triaging an urgent visit, assisting a patient with medication, providing COVID-19 advice, interpreting test results, or happily helping with other patient needs, this team rose to the challenge to ensure everyone received the high-quality care they deserved! The team of Andrew Robin, RN, Erica Taylor, RN, Karen Hattman, RN, and Laurie Boroughs, RN.
About the Cares Award
The UW Medicine Cares Awards were established in 2013 to formally recognize and celebrate individuals and teams in the UW Medicine community who consistently exemplify our UW Medicine Service Culture Guidelines and go above and beyond to support members of the UW Medicine community, both patients and colleagues. This award is presented twice per year (Fall and Spring).
The guidelines include treating people with respect and compassion, embracing diversity, equity and inclusion, encouraging collaboration and teamwork, promoting innovation, and being accountable for excellence.
A patient, family, or community member can nominate individuals and teams. Nominations are reviewed and approved by Human Resources and the nominee’s supervisors before a cross-functional committee reviews the nominations to select recipients of the award. Committee members come from a variety of teams to ensure equal representation.
